Coconut Palms is located in Kalapana - Sea view Estates on the Hilo side of the Big Island of Hawaii and just a walk to the world famous Kehena Black Sand Beach.
Pohoiki Point and the famous Kapoho snorkeling waters are also near by and remain popular snorkeling, surfing and swimming areas.
Kilauea Volcano is just a 45-60 minutes drive where you can walk through Thurstons Lava Tube.
The unit is situated in a safe, quiet & friendly Hawaiian neighborhood off Kalapana-Kapoho Rd. |

We call our place 'Coconut Palms' due to the many young coconut trees in front of our property - which is just a walk to the ocean. It's a great place to stay if you want to be centered in the Puna District of Hawaii (Kalapana) where the sun shines most of the time. Many people come here to see Kilauea Volcano and the periodic lava flows, Hawaiian jungles, tropical rainforests, beautiful coastal views, geothermically heated ponds, snorkeling, whale watching w/ dolphins that migrate to the warm Hawaiian waters from Alaska - you can often see them from land swimming off our beautiful coastal park and in the Kehena Beach area. Many of my tenants tell me that they were able to swim w/ the dolphins and you can, too. This is the place for water lovers and we have what you need: snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, noodles for your swimming pleasure... and did you know that the best and safest snorkeling area is just down the road in the Kapoho Tide pools?
You can easily navigate all of these places from Coconut Palms, it has come to be a very popular spot 'right in the center of all of these attractions'.
Now, for those of you who are seeking night time entertainment, check out 'Uncles Tiki Bar' if you want to sip a beer and listen to live Hawaiian/Jawaiian/Country music... just down the road from us.
The beach, current live lava viewing area, tide pools, snorkeling, fishing areas, Akaka, Kahuna and Rainbow Falls, Boiling Pots, hiking, Farmers Market (1/2 block away), Space Community Arts Center, Keck Observatory, Kilauea , Uncles Bamboo Tiki Bar w/ live music, cafes, food markets, Volcanoes Nat'l Park and so much more - are just 10-45 minutes away. |
