Clear Lake State Park, located on the lake’s southeast shore, has a picnic area, a good sandy beach and a bike trail. Davenport enjoys a unique setting with plenty of rich history. Bound on its southern side by the mighty Mississippi River, the city is one of the few locations where the river runs east and west. Its close proximity to both Chicago and Des Moines makes it an excellent center for both business and tourism.<br>Cedar Rapids was founded on the banks of the Cedar River in the 1800s, since then this exciting town has grown into a manufacturing and communications hub for the heartland where you’ll also find Iowa’s State Fairgrounds, home to one of the oldest and largest agricultural expositions in the U.S. The internationally acclaimed Iowa State Fair is the single largest event attracting nearly one million people from all over the world annually, it is a “celebration of excellence,” the real heartbeat of the Midwest, unequaled and unduplicated!
