Kingsport is conveniently nestled between the Appalachian and the Great Smoky Mountains, there you’ll be able to enjoy its natural beauty, rich historic traditions and exciting outdoor fun. Winter fun sports can be enjoyed at the ski resort with 8 slopes to choose from and caters for both the beginner and the advanced. It is particularly beautiful in the spring when the ground is covered with a mass of wild flowers, or in the fall when the colors are outstanding. The Smokies boasts a renowned diversity of plants and animals, because the park contains a variety of habitats, it is now home for some 1,500 species of plants, with some considered rare, there are also at least 60 native animals living in the Smokies, along with more than 200 species of birds including several species of game fish. <br> <br>Visit Dollywood and discover a world of fun at Dolly Parton’s Theme Park in Pigeon Forge! Browse the museums or for something challenging try the dare devil Tennessee Tornado, the world’s only mountain top tunnel drop or take the thrilling roller coaster ThunderHead for a fantastic mountainous ride. Other nearby towns of interest are: Athens, Sevierville, Ducktown, Dunlap, Townsend and Knoxville. <br><br>Enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Lower Middle region where the quaint towns of Cross Plains, Fayetteville, Lobelville, Normandy, Mulberry and Shelbyville are based, or take a trip up to the famous Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, the oldest distillery in the country and you can taste and find out how they make this tasty bourbon.<br> <br>The scenic city of Chattanooga in the Cumberland Plateau is ideal for outdoor adventure and offers a variety of exciting attractions, breathtaking beauty, rich history, outdoor adventure and plenty of romantic escapes, not forgetting the wonder of the Chattanooga Choo Choo, a restored turn of the century Terminal Station housing original railroad cars, shops and restaurants. The town at the northern end of the peak was originally a Cherokee village known as Ross's Landing. After the "Trail of Tears", settlers renamed the town Chattanooga, the Cherokee name for Lookout Mountain. Raccoon Mountain Caverns in the Black Creek area of Lookout Valley is where you can pan for gemstones, take a go-kart ride or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular views over both Lookout and Raccoon Mountains. Discover an intriguing natural wonder at Ruby falls, one of Chattanooga most favorite attractions. This thundering 145 ft waterfall inside historic Lookout Mountain is a must see. Just outside Chattanooga there is a vast cave system, known for its incredible formations and one of America’s finest. <br><br>Visit Jamestown, Pikesville or Cookeville for some stunning scenery. With a dozen or so golf courses, Crossville claims to be the golf capital of Tennessee and home to the first site of Jack Nicklaus' Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain State Park. It is also home to the highest elevation golf course at Renegade Mountain with eleven championship golf courses. In all you’ll find over 200 holes atop the Cumberland Plateau.<br><br>Visit the magic of Memphis and a city with a distinct southern flavour. Perhaps best known for its world-renowned musicians, Elvis Presley, Al Green and Jerry Lee Lewis and plenty of heart and soul. The city comes alive at night with live entertainment, dancing, fabulous restaurants serving every type of dish imaginable from Russian to Greek to Japanese. During the day you’ll find riverboat cruises, shopping in Beale Street, museums and galleries to browse, plus the one and only Graceland, Elvis’s lavish former grand home, now an amazing memorial to ‘the king’, this massive mansion houses his cars and personal possessions and other memorabilia of his life. Don’t forget to visit The National Civil Rights Museum, Mud Island a tribute to the great legends, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum, Sun Studios, where Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, BB King and Jerry Lee Lewis cut their first records and even the famous rock band U2 still records there today.
