 B&B Location

Situated on the tranquil shores of Gustavus, Alaska sits a majestic lodge - the Glacier Bay's Bear Track Inn.

Weather - May and June is the best time to visit Gustavus, and you can expect the least rain. July and mid August will be the warmest, however you can expect rain showers almost every other day. Late August and September is our rainy season and you can expect rain daily. It is more of a mist or a spit, however, you can still enjoy your stay if you are prepared.

 Room Amenities
Private Bath

Our Inn features hand-crafted log construction with 14 spacious guest rooms, each with private baths and two queen size beds.

The Inn's guest rooms are huge (270 square feet). Each room has two queen size beds, table and chairs, an armoire, and a trestle bench. The second floor rooms have vaulted ceilings and views which can not be matched anywhere in Gustavus. All rooms have down comforters, 200 thread count sheets, down pillows, and thick bath sheets, that will fit around almost everyone, and unlike a lot of places, you won't be able to see through them.

 Inn Amenities
Guided Tours

The Bear Track Inn features exquisite accommodations, incredible activities, scrumptious meals, true Alaskan ambience and hospitality - All with Glacier Bay National Park serving as your backdrop.

Summer in Glacier Bay is special. Choose from custom guided tours of Glacier Bay, world-class sportfishing, wildlife viewing, whale watching and kayaking. If relaxation is your goal, you will never find a more suitable place.

The lobby is the focal point of the Inn, stretching 30 feet from floor to ceiling, offering inspiring views of streams, wildlife, mountains, forests, meadows, and of Icy Strait. Wilderness abounds from windows throughout the lodge.

Bask in front of a walk-around fireplace - the only fireplace like it in Gustavus. There are overstuffed suede couches, handmade tables, hand-crafted chandeliers and lighting fixtures, including two moose antler chandeliers. Everything has been hand picked to compliment the building.

 Meals

The Inn's dining room features a family-style atmosphere with all meals included in the rate. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room, with lunch provided on any of our excursions.

The dining room is my favorite place in the Bear Track Inn. Imagine walking into the dining room, being greeted by our hostess, and choosing between locally brewed beer or an extensive wine list to compliment the dinner menu. Choose between three to six entrees that could include steak, salmon, halibut, pork tenderloin, chicken, musk ox, caribou and vegetarian dishes. If this does not tempt your tastes buds, there will also be nightly specials, such as Halibut Parmesan, Excursion Halibut, Salmon in Parchment, or many other Inn specialties. Combine this with Alaskan favorites such as Dungeness Crab, Alaskan Spotted Prawns, seafood soups and salads, homemade breads, freshly made dressings, and finish with dazzling desserts. It's a dinner to remember.

All entrees are served with delicious homemade bread, appetizer, beverage, and dessert.

Appetizers

Mixed Greens - With seasonal vegtables and your choice of house made dressings: soy ginger vinaigrette, Bleu cheese or ranch.

Salmon and Halibut Spread - Accompanied by crustinies & grill bread.

Salmon Chowder - A hearty cream chowder with pieces of fresh caught king salmon, locally harvested Alaskan shrimp and vegtables.

Entrees

AK surf-n-turf - A fresh dungeness crab half, served with drawn butter, accompanied by grilled Caribou medallion.

Salmon is King - A fresh king salmon steak, accompanied by a sun-dried tomato pesto and baked to perfection.

Halibut Ritz - A fresh caught halibut steak rolled in a crunchy ritz topping and baked, served with an orange beurre blanc

Pork Loin - A 6 oz. portion of pork loin stuffed with bread crumbs, dried cranberries, chopped walnuts, mushrooms, garlic and fresh herbs, and baked.

 Area Activities

Catch the fish of your dreams! We offer salt water charters for barn-door sized halibut and hard-hitting salmon. We also offer Blue Ribbon stream fishing. Enjoy fishing secluded streams for Pink, Silver, Sockeye, or Chum Salmon. Also catch Dolly Varden, Cutthroat Trout, or Steelhead in their season.

The Bear Track Inn is not just a fishing lodge! Choose your own itinerary. Go back in time on one of our glacier tours. Choose your own vessel for a whale watching adventure, a 23 passenger vessel, a six passenger touring vessel, or on a one or two person kayak. You can hike into Glacier Bay National Park and see seldom viewed waterfalls, bears, moose, or wolves. Not satisfied yet? Many custom tours including bear watching, excursions to Skagway for a ride on the historic White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad, and golfing packages can fit into your itinerary...again the choice is yours!
